Ok, let’s be honest.  There have been times when I’ve gone off on a bit of a rant on KIT.  Aaaand we do encourage you to call in and “get it off your chest” which I suppose could be considered an attempt to entice a rant.    So with all the ranting going on, is it really doing any good?Science says probably not. University of Arkansas psychologists studied the effects of venting and report that experiments show  "expressing...anger seemed to preserve rather than reduce hostile feelings."

WHAT?  Just the opposite of what we hoped!

Similarly, an Ohio State University psychology professor has demonstrated that people genuinely believe that venting will help them feel better, but that in order to truly move forward, people must focus on potential solutions to their problems, not just dwell on them.

The takeaway must be, "Okay, now I got that off my chest-- what am I going to do about it?'" (Mental Floss)
