Tommy Simmons, Rags and Ribbons, and headliner Ben Union take the stage Thursday night for the latest show in the Downtown Summer Nights (DSN) concert series.

Hundreds of people have been flocking to South Fourth Street in downtown Yakima on Thursday evenings all summer long for free concerts, cold beverages, great food and family friendly fun in general.

This week's headliner at DSN is Seattle's Ben Union. Here's how the band's website describes them.

Ben Union is a Seattle-based band that creates diverse pop music with an unconventional edge.

In an era of artists adhering to the rules of culture and genre, Ben Union is a visionary wind of change bringing rock-n-roller attitude to a pop genre that is in desperate need of innovation. From inception, Ben Union has never followed the script. Whether filling up school busses to carry fans to venues in other cities, to jumping off of upper balconies into crowds, lighting themselves on fire in packed theaters, or giving their entire music collection away to their fans completely free, they do things THEIR WAY. Their unorthodox approach to the music industry and the way business is typically done is groundbreaking, and their devotion to independent success and their fans is impossible to ignore.

Downtown Summer Nights is presented by Stewart Subaru with music powered by Chinook Fest, and brought to you by Townsquare Media and the city of Yakima, with kids’ activities presented by Yakima Maker Space sponsored by Yakima Neighborhood Health. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Admission is free, and the show is open to all ages. Food, drinks, adult beverages and merchandise are available for sale on site.
