(Updated 4:50 p.m.)Snoqualmie May Open White Stevens Passes Closed Thursday Night

An unofficial 5 to 8 inches of snow fell in the city of Yakima on Wednesday and then it turned to freezing rain and that's caused lots of closures Thursday. Stevens, Snoqualmie, Stevens and White Passes remain closed because of heavy snow and avalanche danger. Crews from the State Department of Transportation say Snoqualmie Pass may reopen later tonight. An evaluation of conditions will be made at 6:00 p.m. Stevens Pass and White Pass will remain closed overnight because of snow and avalanche danger. Those passes will be reevaluated at 10:00 a.m. Friday and could open later Friday morning.
