Hand Recount Starts Wednesday In 15th District Legislative Race

The Yakima County auditor's office says the County Canvassing Board will conduct a recount Wednesday in the 15th District's Position 2 legislative race in which incumbent David Taylor, R-Moxee, is seeking re-election. The board will start the hand recount at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The recount will be in the race between Taylor's challengers, Republican David Kearby and Democrate A.J. Cooper. Just eight votes currently separate the two in the race.

Under state law, an automatic recount commences if the margin is no more than 2,000 votes and less than one-half of a percentage point. If the gap is less than 150 votes and less than a quarter of a percent of the total votes cast, the recount must be done by hand.
