A 24-year-old man prosecutors call the instigator in a fatal beating pleaded guilty Tuesday in Yakima County Superior Court to second-degree murder.

Prosecutors are seeking a 22-year prison term when James Long is sentenced Friday.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports four other people who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the case will be sentenced at the same time.

They are accused of beating Jose Correa to death in March 2012 when he was reportedly carrying an $8,000 tax refund. His body was found in an irrigation ditch near Granger.
