Grandview Man Sentenced for Stabbing Friend
A Grandview, Washington man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for fatally stabbing a friend, then running over his body and stashing it in a car trunk.
The Tri-City Herald reports that 25-year-old Robert B. McCorkindale was sentenced Tuesday in Benton County Superior Court for the June 2013 murder of 22-year-old Preston Yahne.
McCorkindale earlier pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree murder.
His initial charge of first-degree murder was reduced, in part because McCorkindale's statements were suppressed after a judge found Yakima County sheriff's detectives violated his right to a lawyer after his arrest.
The man was accused of burning Yahne's body in the trunk of a car where the victim's skull and bones were later found.
