GRANGER, Wash. (AP) — The police chief in Granger has his weapons back after the court ordered him three weeks ago to surrender them when a no-contact order was filed against him.

Robert Perales' guns were taken away when his ex-girlfriend filed no-contact order against him in a harassment complaint on May 18.

Perales' attorney, Bill Pickett, says a Yakima District Court judge on Monday returned the police chief's firearms after a three-day hearing, but extended the no-contact order for a year.

His ex-girlfriend alleges in the complaint that Perales came to her fruit stand in Sunnyside and demanded to talk to her months after the couple ended their eight-year relationship. She says he refused to leave despite repeated demands.

Pickett says Perales has no problem with the no-contact order remaining in place.
