VALE, Ore. (AP) — Investigators say a GPS error may have led a man astray in a remote part of Oregon before he was found dead after a week-long search.

Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe tells the Argus Observer 69-year-old Silas Wrigley appears to have missed a turn to a lake while using a GPS system.

Wolfe said investigators cannot prove it, but it looks like Wrigley followed the recalculated route from the GPS to a remote dirt road in eastern Oregon where his truck was found.

Wrigley was on a fishing trip.
