Washington Governor Jay Inslee  will visit Yakima on Wednesday looking for support and a little extra pressure on the legislature to sign off on the state construction budget.  The Governor is expected to tour East Valley High School, which is awaiting more than $17 million in the state capital budget for renovations.

Legislators ended the 2017 session on July 20 without passing the capital budget, which supports more than 19,000 jobs around the state in the public and private sector. The Governor's office reports that the delay in passing the capital budget will likely increase costs for construction and labor for East Valley and hundreds of other projects including other schools, mental health, water quality and other facilities across Washington.

Senate Republicans are seeking leverage for legislative action on other matters including water access for land owners and developers.

Inslee's schedule puts him at the school on Beaudry Road at  2:35 pm Wednesday, Aug. 9.  For more information contact: Chase Gallagher, 360.688.6921
