MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) — Google is looking to expand its high-speed Internet service. The company has announced preliminary plans to put its "Google Fiber" service into areas of southern California and Kentucky. The specific areas targeted are San Diego, Irvine; California and Louisville, Kentucky. Google still has to work out the logistics with government leaders before deciding whether to hook them up with service that can deliver online content at one gigabit per second. That is a whopping 100 times faster than existing Internet services. And the prices for Google Fiber are close to — or even below in some cases — what most households already pay for Internet access.
