10 days of the Central Washington state fair wrapped up Sunday after tens of thousands of people passed through the gates. Final attendance figures aren't yet available but no doubt big crowds were there, nearly 266 thousand people attended the fair this year, about 7 thousand more than last year. The fair continued through the cancellation of the SunFair parade and numerous high school football games because of smokey conditions. But thousands of people still attended the shows and enjoyed everything that makes the fair special and the SunFair parade was shortened, but still continued Saturday night on the fairgrounds. The parade honored Grand Marshal Dale Carpenter for his years of volunteer efforts in the Yakima valley. Fair officials are already working on the lineup for next year's event and we're already looking forward to more fair food!!
