Imagine visiting Seattle and riding a gondola starting from the Washington State Convention Center, stopping at Pike Place Market and then ending along Seattle's waterfront.  The dream is that of the Griffith family which owns the Great Seattle Ferris Wheel. They have scheduled a kickoff event Tuesday in downtown Seattle to announce the official launch of the Union Street Gondola.

KIRO radio in Seattle says this is something the Griffith's have talked about for several years. But developer Kyle Griffith says they're finally ready to begin making the dream a reality.

Initial concepts call for gondolas similar to those currently in use on the Great Wheel traveling by cable above the middle of the street, suspended by crescent shaped poles that look like a whale's bone.
