After getting the case on Friday, a Yakima County Superior jury on Monday found Luis Gomez-Monges guilty of first degree murder in the death of Yakima realtor Vern Holbrook.

During the trial, prosecutors maintained that Gomez-Monges was hired by Daniel Blizzard to assault Holbrook in a house he was lured to under the pretense of showing the house to a potential buyer. Blizzard was found guilty of murder in another trial in September.

Gomez-Monges was charged with severely attacking Holbrook in May of 2013. The 79-year-old real estate broker died as a result of his injuries in January of 2014.

Prosecutors said Blizzard began planning the murder after his plan to buy Holbrook’s Aspen Realty fell through.
