The Golden Globes just wrapped and the Oscars are straight ahead. It’s fortunate most movie stars make big bucks because it costs a lot to prep for the red carpet.

According to the New York Post, somewhere in the neighborhood of $40 grand!

Using the lovely actress AMY ADAMS as a guide at last year’s Golden Globes, here’s the estimation of just how much fabulosity really costs.

--The “free” Versace dress: $12,500 dollars. The dress itself was “no doubt a loaner,” but the services of a major Hollywood stylist comes with a day rate of around $1,500. For a major red carpet event, that can mean a payday of over $10-thousand dollars for only several days of work. Major fashion houses will fly in their own tailors to put the finishing touches on a dress, including the cost of the flight and hotel room. The designer picks up the tab in exchange for publicity.

--Hair: $6,000.Creating the actual hairstyle on the day of the awards show can take the hair stylist two to five hours, at a day rate of $2,000 dollars.

--Makeup: $5,000. One hour of a pro make-up artist in Hollywood can run “at least” $1,500 dollars. Some celebrities demand a “makeup trial run” a few days prior and, often, the exclusive use of a celebrity makeup artist’s time, which can increase the rate to $5,000.

--Nails: $300 for a house-call manicure.

--The “free” jewelry: $20-thousand dollars. The jewels get loaned out, but all the armored trucks, guards and security racks up the bucks almost as much as it would cost to just buy it yourself.

Remember, it’s an honor just being nominated, but that honor comes at a price!
