I have to hand it to the Wapato School District.  They are always looking ahead and looking for ways to keep parents involved in their kid’s education. Here is the official word on the latest and most delicious idea. From the Wapato District -  “Wapato Public Schools is inviting the families of all of its Kindergarten through 5th grade students to its BBQ Dinner and K-5 Futures Fair.  This is an opportunity for parents/families to learn what they can do NOW to plan for your child’s future/education after high school.

There will be information about academics, financial aid, financial planning and more.  Families will have the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives from colleges, universities, banks, the military, technical schools and more.   Hear from experts how some planning now could save you money on college tuition later.

Families will also hear an inspirational and informative message from our guest speaker, Erica Macias-Tait.  She is a Wapato High School alumnus who went on to earn a Master’s in Education and currently serves as the Student Life Coordinator for Heritage University.   She will talk about the importance of families developing a relationship with their child’s school and how essential it is to their child’s academic success.

The BBQ Dinner and K-5 Futures Fair is Thursday, May 20th from 5:30 to 7:00pm in the Wapato High School Commons.
