Gang Shooting Sends Teen to Hospital

A 19-year-old man was shot in a shooting related to local gangs at about 6:25 p.m. Thursday.

Yakima Police were called to the area of Clarke Ave. and Roosevelt Ave. where officers say the 19-year-old was riding his bike and he was shot one time in the right upper torso.

The teen was taken to a local hospital, but later flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. There is currently no word on his condition.

Officers found shell casings at the scene and believe the shooting is gang related. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Yakima Police Department at 575-6200.
