Gallup Says More Democrats Leaning More to The Left – Dave’s Diary

Yakima has been a conservative community for as long as I have been here.  That’s pushing  33 years now and through most of that time Democrats and have had as difficult of a time at the polls in Eastern Washington as they have dominated the West side of our state.The Gallup Poll people routine conduct a "Values and Beliefs Poll" and the most recent shows some interesting numbers concerning present day Democratic voters. First of all Democrats today are far more left-leaning than anytime in the last 15 years.

Forty-seven-percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents now identify as both socially liberal and economically moderate or liberal. That’s up from 30-percent in 2001 and up from 39 percent just seven years ago.
In that growing group of 47-percent of leftist and left leaning people, 25-percent call themselves "pure" liberals --identifying as liberal on both social and economic issues.
