If cleanliness is next to friendliness, then it’s time to get friendly this Saturday if you live in an area between Yakima Valley Community College and Davis High School bordered by Tieton Drive to the north and Nob Hill to the south.

City Hall, Shields Bag and Printing, Safe Yakima Valley, Habitat for Humanity, Yakima Waste Systems, and the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce are teaming up with volunteers from Yakima area churches Saturday, May 14th for a One-Day FREE Community Cleanup.

Folks living in the target area can place bagged or boxed household garbage, tires, scrap metal, recyclables, yard waste, or electronics on the curb near their homes from 8:00am til 1:00 pm.

There are some things not to do along the path to a safer, cleaner, healthier community.  For example NO commercial waste, construction or demolition debris, concrete, or hazardous waste.

NO household hazardous waste will be accepted during the cleanup event. However, the Terrace Heights landfill does have an ongoing program through which it accepts household hazardous waste for free.

And each household will be limited to no more than four tires (passenger car and small truck tires only).
