Former UW Cornerback Desmond Trufant a #1 NFL Draft Pick
Trufant became the third brother from his family to join the NFL when the Atlanta Falcons selected him 22nd overall in the NFL Draft on Thursday.
The Falcons traded up from the number 30 pick to snag the Tacoma native. He was the only Husky to declare for this year’s draft, and was the third cornerback selected.
Desmond joins his older brother Marcus as a first round pick. Marcus was the number one pick of the Seattle Seahawks out of Washington State in 2003. Their brother, Isaiah, went undrafted out of Eastern Washington but has played with the New York Jets the last three years.
The Seattle Seahawks will get started in the draft in Friday’s second round, picking 56th overall.
