Union Gap authorities are checking whether a former employee, under investigation for embezzling from a business, stole anything from the city. Our news partner KIMA Action News reports Anita Hoxie worked for Union Gap as payroll clerk for almost two months before being fired earlier this month. Yakima Police say she is under investigation for embezzling from her previous job.

Metal Benders of Yakima says Hoxie was fired in February for taking at least $20,000. The company is pressing charges. "From seeing what happened here, if you have somebody caught embezzling from your company, you have to press charges or they're going to go out in the community and get hired somewhere else and do the same thing," said Joe Menard.

Union Gap administrators say they do not think Hoxie stole from the city. They are auditing her work to make sure.
