Formal charges have been filed in the child molestation investigation of an Othello school teacher.

The Adams County prosecutor has filed formal charges against Lisa Davis, a 5th-grade teacher at Scootney Springs Elementary accused of committing sex crimes against one of her 10-year-old male students.

Davis has been charged with one count of first degree child molestation. Othello Police had originally recommended she be charged with two counts of first degree child molestation.

Davis will make her first court appearance on Monday July 29nd in Adams County.

According to Othello Police, Davis has been under investigation since May 30th when complaints were reported to police that she sexually molested one of her students. After completing an investigation, police forwarded their findings to the Adams County Prosecutor. Police say Davis and the 10-year-old victim are not related.

School district officials say Davis resigned her position in early June. The school board approved her resignation on June 24th.
