It may be disconcerting to some Sonics fans to have to come to grips with the fact that the incomparable "K.C." will now be exhorting "Rip City, Baby!" instead of "Get on that magic carpet and ride, Reign Man!" but Calabro himself has stated that, after eight years, he has moved on.

Today's announcement is on the heels of the Blazers letting go of on-air personalities Mike Barrett and Mike Rice.

Still a Seattle resident, Calabro, originally from Indiana, came to the Supes to replace their original broadcaster from the team's inception, the legendary Bob Blackburn. Calabro spent 21 seasons calling Sonics basketball on radio and television but rejected Clay Bennett's offer when the club moved to Oklahoma City in 2008 and became the Thunder. Beside the Sonics, Sacramento Kings and ESPN Radio, he has also worked for Turner Broadcasting and Seattle sports radio station AM-950 KJR.

Blazers President Chris McGowan stated that the team is looking nationwide for a color commentator to join Calabro.
