A retired K-9 from the Yakima Police Department named Flash has made it to the final round of voting for the American Humane Hero Dog Awards and is a top three finalist in the Law Enforcement division. Former Yakima Police officer Jason Johnson says Flash was the inspiration for him starting Project K-9 Hero, a foundation that supports retired police K-9's.
You can learn more about Flash and continue to vote for him until July 11 as the the 2018 Law Enforcement Dog of the Year at projectk9hero.org.
Flash worked for the Yakima Police Department from 2005 to 2013.  Johnson will be on The Morning News at 7:45 a.m. Friday to talk more about Flash, her service to the Yakima community, her children’s book and what a win would mean to the Project K9 Hero Foundation she started.
