Tee it up, golf is more than a game, it's a bona fide workout!  In fact, by one account it's like the equivalent of a week's worth of exercise.

Macmillan Cancer Support, a cancer charity in the U.K., says during a single round of golf, players walk four to eight miles, which. for those carrying their own clubs, would burn around 1,564 calories.

Exercise experts says that since a round of golf equates to about 240 minutes of moderate intensive activity, it goes beyond the recommendation that adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate intense activity per week.  So fellas, there is your built in excuse if you want to spend Saturday golfing with your buddies.

And if you need even more ammunition, an earlier study of 300,000 Swedish golfers found that they had a death rate 40 percent lower than for other people of the same sex, age, and socioeconomic status. (Daily Mail)
