60 firefighters from throughout the region helped douse flames of a fire in the 1100 block of West Washington Avenue in Yakima reported at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Yakima fire officials say when they arrived they found a duplex on fire and flames spreading to a nearby two story home. Six adults and seven kids were evacuated from the duplex and the home. No injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation but they say the fire may have started in a kitchen in one of the duplex units.
Damage is estimated at $200,000. 60 firefighters from throughout the region battled the flames overnight on West Washington Avenue.
