It kicks off on Friday. The first Yakima Valley Restaurant week. During the week participating restaurants will be offering special menus with 15 to 25 percent discounts. Spokeswoman Mary Lynne Brewington with Leadership Yakima says the event is designed to introduce more residents to restaurants in the Yakima Valley. Along with introducing more people to area restaurants the event also supports the Yakima Police Athletic League Urban Kitchen program. The program teaches at-risk youth culinary and business skills.  The week kicks off Friday and continues until march 31.

The Project Chair Michael Uhlman will talk about the event during an appearance on The Morning News Friday at 7:45 a.m. Don't miss it!
