Another day on the fire lines for firefighters in Central Washington. The Norse Peak fire near Cliffdell is now 8 % contained at 47,000 acres. Fire officials say cooler, moist air has moved into the fire area today with west to northwest winds. fire officials say the change in wind direction will help slow the spread of the fire on the pierce county side and allow firefighters to make progress along the western edge of the Norse Peak fire. 430 firefighters are battling the flames Today.
The Jolly Mountain fire burning 7 miles NW of Cle Elum is 8 percent contained at 26,000 acres. 831 firefighters are on the fire lines of that fire.
In Oregon the Eagle Creek fire continues to burn. And The Oregon Department of Transportation says Interstate 84 will remain closed between Troutdale and Hood River at least through the weekend. In fact, the closure could last much longer.
