SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Firefighters are bracing for high winds that could expand wildfires burning across Eastern Washington.

A red flag warning has been issued for the eastern portion of the state from 11 a.m. Wednesday to 5 p.m. Friday. Winds are expected to increase to 20 mph by Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say temperatures will climb above 90 degrees and relative humidity will drop to as low as 14 percent.

Meanwhile, a wildfire burning in Okanogan County has forced the evacuation of the small town of Conconully (Kon-KON'-ully).

Fire officials say the evacuation order for the town of about 200 people was issued Tuesday night.

The Okanogan Complex wildfire continues to threaten the town, which is located about 20 miles northwest of Omak.

Officials say the fire has not yet reached the town.
