Firefighters say the Ahtanum Ridge fire has grown to more than 250 acres. The fire started Wednesday afternoon. No injuries have been reported. The fire was contained late Wednesday night.

Firefighters are battling a fire on Ahtanum Ridge that they say could have been started by fireworks. Firefighters from the West Valley Fire Department say the fire was first reported along South Ahtanum Road early Wednesday afternoon. Officials from the State Department of Natural Resources and the Bureau of Indian affairs are now joining resources to battle the flames. The South Ahtanum Fire is estimated at more than 25 acres and growing. Currently dozers and firefighters on the ground are being helped by helicopters who are getting water from Rimrock Lake hoping to douse the flames before they grow out of control.
