SEATTLE (AP) — A firefighter who was severely injured in last summer's deadly Twisp River blaze says he's getting "a little bit better each day."
Daniel Lyon Jr., who has been living at his parent's house in Montana, paid a visit to Harborview Medical Center this week so experts could track his progress. The 25-year-old is recovering from third-degree burns that covered nearly 70 percent of his body.
Lyon spends hours each day in therapy and makes visits every six weeks to Harborview.
While in Seattle this week, Lyon also visited a fourth-grade class to talk with students who have sent him cards and letters over the months.
Lyon says he's improving daily from the Aug. 19 wildfire that killed firefighters Richard Wheeler, Andrew Zajac, and Tom Zbyszewski.
