Firefighters are scaling back operations at the Norse Peak fire burning near Cle Elum. In fact all evacuation notices have been lifted because the fire is not threatening private property or homes. The fire, that started with a lightening strike on August 11 is burning in remote terrain. Firefighters say they'll continue to monitor the fire. They say rain and cooler temperatures will eventually douse the blaze later this fall and winter. The fire remains at 80 percent containment at more than 52,000 acres.
