Fire on Naches Avenue Has Been Ruled Arson

Fire investigators say arson is the cause of a duplex fire Tuesday night along the 200 block of S. Naches Avenue. The 6 adults and 4 children inside were woken up by a person knocking on a window alerting them of the fire.  All 10 were able to get out of the house OK. The fire started on the outside of the house and spread to the attic. Crews had to tear down part of the ceiling to gain access. Damage is estimated at $90,000.

The Red Cross has stepped in to help the people displaced by the fire. Investigators currently have no suspects. The Yakima Fire Department is looking for information regarding the person or persons responsible for the fire to contact the Yakima Fire Department 575-6060.
