Investigators are trying to figure out who is responsible for multiple garbage fires in Yakima.

Firefighters say they responded to garbage burning in an alley on the 600 block of South 14th Avenue. The fire spread to a nearby garage, causing fire and heat damage. Firefighters were able to put the flames out within five minutes. It has been ruled an arson.

The fire caused around $15,000 worth of damage. Anyone with information can contact the Yakima Fire Department at 575-6060.

This is the third garbage or combustible material fire in the area within the last week.

Firefighters want to remind residents to dispose of garbage or vegetation in appropriate refuse containers.
