A fire is now burning on Chinook Pass 12 miles west of Naches. Janet Pierce from the Department of Natural Resources says the fire has grown to about 200 acres after being reported at about 4:00 a.m. Tuesday. Pierce says firefighters from the US Forest Service, Department of Natural Resources are being helped by two DNR helicopters. No word on how the fire started. Pierce says no structures are being threatened by the fire. She says firefighters are battling winds and hot temperatures and are hoping to have to fire out soon.
