• A third and final public workshop on the Downtown Yakima Master Plan is set for Monday 6:30 p.m. at the Yakima Convention Center.

    During the first two meetings the consultants hired by the city to develop a plan got public feedback on a vision for downtown.

    The Yakima City council will have a study session Monday morning to review the recommendations before the public workshop.

    A key proposal for downtown includes turning the cities parking lot near the Millennium Plaza into a huge public plaza.

    Don't miss the apple bin races in front of city hall following the parade. There's a fishing derby, lip sync contest and a teen dance on Saturday night.
