Final Downtown Master Plan Workshop, Naches Sportsmans Days This Week

A third and final public workshop on the Downtown Yakima Master Plan is set for Monday 6:30 p.m. at the Yakima Convention Center.

During the first two meetings the consultants hired by the city to develop a plan got public feedback on a vision for downtown.

The Yakima City council will have a study session Monday morning to review the recommendations before the public workshop.

A key proposal for downtown includes turning the cities parking lot near the Millennium Plaza into a huge public plaza.

One of the longest running events in the valley's history kicks off this weekend.

Naches Sportsman's Days kicks off at 5:00 p.m. Friday along with food booths, bingo and a chainsaw carver.

On Friday night there's great music on the Depot stage and a magic show from Yakima's Ed Mejia. Saturday starts off with a kids parade at 9:45 a.m. then the Grand parade gets underway at 10:10 a.m. Saturday morning.

Don't miss the apple bin races in front of city hall following the parade. There's a fishing derby, lip sync contest and a teen dance on Saturday night.
