Felix Hernandez gave up a run in the first inning, but shut down the Pittsburgh Pirates for the next seven innings to improve his record to 5-2.

Tom Wilhemsen pitched a scoreless ninth for his ninth save of the year.  King Felix gave up six hits and one run and struck out five over his eight innings to lower his ERA to 1.53.  Wilhemsen, who is a perfect nine for nine in saves lowered his ERA to a miniscule 0.60.

The Mariners only had 3 hits of Pirate starter A.J. Burnett who fell to 3-3 on the season  Endy Chavez had two hits and Jesus Montero had one hit. It was an opposite field home-run in the 7th which proved to be the game-winner.  The Mariners finished the road trip at 3-2.

They're off tomorrow,  and will begin a three game series at Safeco field on Friday.  After starting the season at 8-15, the Mariners record now stands at 16-19.
