A federal judge has ruled that the city of Yakima elected officials must run for re-election in 2015 according to a federal voting rights lawsuit ruling made by Judge Thomas Rice Today.
The Yakima City Council will review the ruling during tonight's meeting. The city is being ordered to adopt the ACLU's proposal that calls for 7 districts with the purpose of getting more Latino representation on the city council. The ACLU sued the city 2 years ago.  The city now has 30 days to decide whether to file an appeal.
