SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities say one person has died and several others have been seriously injured in a four-car collision in central Washington state on Interstate 90.

The victims of the Sunday afternoon crash east of Snoqualmie Pass have not yet been identified.

State troopers had closed the eastbound lane of the highway near North Bend. Hundreds of cars had been backed up before the area reopened to traffic around 5 p.m.

There were reports of a 22-mile backup on the highway, and the Washington State Department of Transportation reported additional travel delays of up to an hour.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
