A family of five "narrowly escaped harm" after a structure fire claimed their home according a Yakima Fire Department news release.

The fire occurred in the 600 block of South 13th Avenue Friday afternoon.

Yakima firefighters attempted to fight the fire with an interior attack, but high winds and the rapidly expanding fire caused the situation to become dangerous. Crews were pulled from the home and then the roof collapsed shortly after they were out of the house.

The current damage estimation is $90,000.

Four separate departments and 16 total firefighters responded to the blaze. Investigators have not determined the exact cause, but they believe it might have been accidental and are leaning toward an electrical problem as the spark.

The American Red Cross is currently assisting the family.
