This week is National Tourism and Travel Week, and apparently many tourists love the Yakima Valley.

According to Yakima Valley Tourism CEO John Cooper,  the organization's report for 2013 tells us that a lot of visitors spent a lot of money in the Yakima Valley last year. The report says that tourists spent $354 million, generating $23 million in state and local tax revenue, and creating 1,400 new jobs.

Cooper was a guest on Tuesday's Mike Bastinelli show. He talked about the economic impact that visitors have on the local economy, how tourism is creating new jobs, and what Yakima Valley Tourism is doing to attract more people to our area.
