Back when we first started talking about Health Care Reform, THIS was the kind of thing most of us were talking  about.  How in the world is it OK for price hikes like those in play for the EpiPen.  The maker of the EpiPen allergy injector has raised its price again to over $500, which is a more than 400 percent price increase since the company, Mylan, started selling it in 2007.

For many, the EpiPen is the emergency line of protection from a life-threatening allergic reaction to such things as bee stings.  When Mylan bought the company in 2007, the EpiPen cost $57. The price has jumped each year since then, and went up 32 percent just between 2014 and 2015.  Mylan says that the price increase is due to rising costs throughout healthcare.

Proving again that there is no honor among thieves, among those who criticized the price hikes include the former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals Martin Shkreli. It was Shkreli raised the price of a malaria and HIV medicine from $13.50 to $750 overnight. While  out on bail awaiting trial on separate money laundering charges, Shkreli called the Mylan Company a bunch of vultures! Takes one to know one!
