Emphasis Patrols Happening New Years Eve

With New Years Eve quickly arriving, authorities are strongly reminding Yakima residents to not drink and drive and that extra patrols will be out to catch those that violate the law.

The extra patrols continue through January 2nd. Increased holiday patrols in Benton, Franklin and Yakima counties caught drunk drivers in the act on Christmas day.

According to booking records, Yakima County saw seven people booked for suspicion of driving under the influence on the 25th with more are expected to be arrested New Years Eve.

The patrols are funded by the state traffic safety commission.
