We Christmas consumers have a voracious appetite for anything shiny, new and innovative which is why the big stores are saying they expect this year to be different from the past in terms of electronics.

Walmart tells Bloomberg Businessweek, "There hasn't been as much innovation in tech over the last year or two. There are different versions of tablets, but nothing like when the iPhone or iPad came out."

Last week Best Buy announced weak results for the last quarter noting that consumers seem more interested in larger smartphones than small tablets. In addition to Walmart and Best Buy, Target and office-supply stores are also expected to be affected by lower sales in the electronics department . (Consumerist)
