On Independence Day, 1902, a monument was unveiled in the center of Yakima Avenue and Third Street of what is now downtown Yakima. Over the last, nearly 110 years, it has fallen prey to the elements and is in need of restoration.  Jan Lowell and Mike Issacs of Yakima are spearheading an effort, in conjuction with the City of Yakima, the Yakima Arts Commission and the Yakima Valley Museum, to have the statue placed inside and have a sturdier replica cast to replace the original.  Mike and Jan will be on "The Mike Bastinelli Show" today to talk about the project.

Today we will also hear from Kevin Milford. He and his wife Pam have started Swede Hill Distilling.  They make Apple Pie Moonshine featuring Washington State Apples.

Listen today from 3 to 6 on AM 1280 and FM 99.3 Newstalk KIT.
