Former Mariners designated hitter Edgar Martinez is in the Dominican Republic, where he will be inducted into the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame, the Mariners said Thursday.

Martinez's induction class at El Salon de la Fama del Beisbol Latino includes Fernando Valenzuela, Luis Tiant, Dennis Martinez, Manny Sanguillen, Rico Carty and Andres Galarraga. It is the hall's second class of inductees.

Former Mariners shortstop Alex Rodriguez also is being honored as the youngest player to reach 600 home runs.
