Easter Sunday.  If you are a Christian this is the most important day –EVER!  So much so that some in the religious community don’t like the idea of sharing the day with bunnies and baskets. Especially considering their supposed pagan origins. But an interesting story on catholic-dot-org tells a much different story, one I hadn’t heard before.

The article says because of their prolific reproductive abilities, the ancient Greeks thought the rabbits could reproduce as virgins! It was an idea that caught on and followed the furballs into the medieval period where the idea of a virgin rabbit became a symbol for the virgin Mary.  Kind of a leap but there you go.
