A big honor for a group of East Valley High School students who found out Tuesday that their technology project beat out thousands of other entries nationwide.

The big prize? $140,000 in technology projects including smart boards, TVs and laptops for students to use.

The contest by Samsung is called "Solve For Tomorrow." It promotes science, technology, engineering and math skills.

Students had to create something environmentally friendly and beneficial to Central Washington. So they built an energy efficient cooling system for homes using irrigation water. Students say they are excited to be recognized for their hard work.

They were one of the five schools chosen from more than 2,300 entries submitted across the country.
