The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, Yakama Nation Police and the Washington State Patrol will be conducting DUI Emphasis Patrols on the Yakama Reservation June 9. This patrol is sponsored by the White Swan Community Coalition.

These three agencies will be working together to focus on looking for drivers who are impaired by intoxicants or drugs, seatbelt use, and underage drinking.

These Patrols and the White Swan Community Coalition are attempting to reduce the number of DUI collision injuries and fatalities in both adults and juveniles on the Yakama Indian Reservation. To reduce the number of juveniles who are drinking either in motor vehicles or at private parties, put a stop to juveniles being a passenger in a motor vehicle with someone who has already been drinking.

If you know of an underage party where there is alcohol involved, please call the Yakama Nation Tribal Police at 865-2933 or the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office (Keg Stoppers) at 574-2500.

If you drink and drive (or ride with someone who has been), there are consequences.
