The Yakima City Council will vote on the Downtown Master Plan next month, a major document that if approved will change the face of downtown Yakima.

City Economic Development Manager Sean Hawkins says the council will hold a study session on October 21 and then hold a public hearing on Nov. 5 before voting on the document.

“This will all be about is getting us started. Getting the council to vote on some key things such as maybe what Yakima Avenue can look like.”

A public hearing will be held before the council votes in November but Hawkins says there will be plenty of other chances to comment on the master plan over the next several years as the city works on the downtown area.
