Yakima's downtown is coming alive with music this summer. Sean Hawkins the Yakima Development Manager says last Friday's first noon time concert at Performance Park was a big success and he expects a bigger crowd at the Downtown Summer Nights concert series that starts at 5:00 p.m. on South 4th Street behind the Capital Theater.

Hawkins is just hoping for the large crowds that fill the park to enjoy free music and rediscover downtown Yakima. He says it is part of a push to get more people to enjoy the downtown area this summer. Along with music you will be able to enjoy food, beer wine and activities for the kids. “We are trying something new. This has never been done before having concerts downtown so we are excited. I know people have always enjoyed the concerts at Franklin Park.”

The noon Thursday and Friday evening concerts run through August.
